Not to give you or your students more work, but I recently came across a website that seeks to &quot;source&quot; everyday items.  It&#039;s a good idea, but the site is not very deep yet.  Perhaps some of your students might consider inputting what they&#039;ve discovered through their disassembly project, so others can learn.  

This isn&#039;t an ad nor am I affiliated with the site. Someone just tweeted it to me and I thought it was a neat idea:
